Required Qualifications:

A Baccalaureate degree in health sciences or nursing. A minimum of three years’ (3) experience working in Indigenous health in Alberta or Canada. Healthcare experience, working knowledge of the health care system is required. A minimum of 5 years in a leadership and/or program planning role ideally in health care and/or with an Indigenous organization or agency of significant size, complexity and diversity serving Indigenous peoples and communities. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals. This position requires on-site attendance.


Additional Required Qualifications:

A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage human, financial, and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to plan, organize and manage short- and long-term plans and projects and deliver patient/client-focused results. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees, and other partners. Proficient with computers. Valid driver’s license and must be able to travel. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. As a bona fide occupational requirement, and under Section 11 of the Alberta Human Rights Act, only Indigenous applicants will be considered.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master of Health Administration or Public Health with 7 to 10 years' work experience in a leadership and/or program planning role, ideally in a health care or Indigenous organization of significant size, complexity, diversity. Experience/knowledge of Indigenous health, Ways of Knowing, relationship building/engagement/community-based approaches. Knowledge of Indigenous culture (i.e., protocols), history, territories (i.e., Treaty areas & communities) and geographic diversity in Alberta.
